According to Peter Wohlleben (author of the book The Hidden Life of Trees), some trees living in natural forests, such as beech, have a very strong friendship relationship with their neighbor. They each ensure the survival of their partner and are said to be so closely linked by their roots that they sometimes die at the same time.
